Fortnite review

Fortnite is an action game developed by Epic Games and released in 2017 on desktop. The battle royale mode was later ported to mobile devices as a standalone game, which is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows with the option to cross-play between platforms. The game is free to play and has mostly positive reviews on all the platforms.

Gameplay: Survive It

The gameplay of Fortnite is pretty typical for the battle royale genre from one side but has a completely unusual approach to it on the other. As in all battle royales, you have to explore and loot the island, while the deadly zone makes you move and fight other players. But what makes the game unique is that the developers do not want you to treat it seriously, their position is pretty clear: it is a game to have fun. The game does not pretend to be realistic, and the gameplay is more of an arcade shooter. There are also building mechanics, which allow players to build forts from scrap they collect and break walls and other player’s buildings.

Graphics: Unique, Fresh and Cartoony

The graphics perfectly correlate with the mood of Fortnite: they are not realistic at all like they are in many other games of the genre. The game looks cartoony and very stylish, as the designers have managed to make the style recognizable and unique. Such an approach to the game is pretty fresh and is a vacation for battle royale fans, who are tired of realistic graphics, simulation of ballistic effects of weapons, and excessively annoying mechanics of other games. This also has a great effect on optimization, as the game is the same on all platforms and has cross-play built-in.

Controls: Almost There

The major part of the controls is carefully adapted for mobile devices, and you may not even notice the game was initially developed for PC. However, the only thing that ruins a perfect port is the building, as it is not that smooth and convenient as it is on desktop. The touch controls do not allow you to quickly build forts while running, jumping, aiming, and shooting at the same time unless you have 20 fingers to do this.

Great

Despite the controls issue, the game is still one of the best projects available for mobile devices. It is free to play, so we strongly recommend giving it a shot. It appeals to all categories of gamers of most ages, so you will definitely find your place in the large community of Fortnite.
