Square Enix has finally announced the date when the Pixel Remaster version of the last Final Fantasy game will be released. The last installment will be launched on Steam as well as for mobile devices on February 23, 2022.

The first three games in the Final Fantasy series were pixel-remastered last summer, followed by Final Fantasy 4 in September and the 5th part in November. According to a February 9 post by the official Final Fantasy Twitter account, Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remastered will be launched for Windows PC, Android, and iOS on the 23 of February; the PC version will be offered on Steam.

The pixel remaster series is not limited to the graphics, also this is undoubtedly the highlight of the project. Apart from the 3D to 2D pixel graphic transformation, the user interface has been enhanced. Square Enix offers players a set of bonuses including a bestiary, a built-in music player, and a gallery of illustrations. Speaking of music, the new edition features soundtracks by the project’s long-standing composer Nobuo Uematsu.

If you are a stalwart fan of the traditional Final Fantasy series, be aware that the new edition comes with tweaks that might cause the game to give you a different user experience overall. The Steam page dedicated to it mentions that part of the new game’s content can differ from the original Final Fantasy. As for system requirements, Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster is compatible with Windows 8.1 64-bit / Windows 10 64-bit OS and requires 1GB of storage space to run on your computer.

While individual games in the Pixel Remaster series are generally priced between 11 and 20 dollars, you can pre-order the entire bundle at just under 100 USD as a money-saving option. Do you feel excited about the new Final Fantasy release already? Share in the comments!
