The developers' decision to make the game free-to-play turned out to be very successful. The growth in popularity of PUBG has allowed it to reach a new bar, which is 80,000 new players per day. Krafton, the game's owner, is pleased with the results of the transition to the F2P format, which took place in January this year. As the statistics show, the dynamics of the growth of players is very good.

After the game became completely free, about 80,000 players entered it every day. And although not all of them become PUBG fans, a certain percentage of people linger anyway, and this is already a very good achievement. Given the growth in popularity of the game, this also affected the company's income, so the average amount of funds spent on in-game purchases increased by 20%, which is confirmed by the latest financial report.

According to Krafton, the game's revenue was $729.5 million, up 3% from the previous figure. And the profit grew by 33% and amounted to $338.4 million. And although the representatives did not specify what percentage of the profit was the funds earned in PUBG, we cannot ignore the impact of the PUBG on these data.

Krafton's latest report also shed light on two major upcoming projects. One of them is an RPG based on Project Windless, Korean fantasy novels. And the second was the game by Unknown Worlds, which is known for its other project Subnautica.

Thus, although initially many players who came to the game when it was paid were unhappy with the decision of the company, now the situation has changed dramatically, as the game has received a new breath and has become even more interesting due to the huge influx of new players.

Are you happy with Krafton's move to F2P for PUBG? Should the game's competitors borrow this strategy? Please share your thoughts below.
