PayPal has recently expanded its area to Ukraine. The company is trying to help Ukrainian refugees and citizens who live in a war zone. Since Russia started a war in Ukraine on February 24, over 3 million Ukrainian women and children were forced to leave their homes.

Last Thursday PayPal officially confirmed they opened more services for Ukrainian citizens and those who became refugees. While before the war, Ukrainians could only pay via PayPal, now they can also receive money. The Russian army continues attacks on Ukraine and its peaceful citizens, so more people are searching for a way to leave their homes and run to a safe place.

Dan Schulman, the CEO of PayPal said to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov that any Ukrainian, who already has a PayPal account, can now transfer money from it to the debit and credit cards. The fees are waived until June 30.

PayPal's decision can help millions of people in Ukraine and refugees. Millions of them were forced to leave the jobs they had and now require help from outside. This way they can earn money for doing online work or receive money from family and friends abroad. They can help their families who were left in Ukraine and support them financially. According to the International Monetary Fund head in Ukraine, Vladyslav Rashkovan, PayPal can later be used as an alternative way to receive social payments from the government. According to him, it makes a great difference to those people who need help. Ukrainian people have been waiting for PayPal since 2015, the time when Russia illegally annexed Crimea.

PayPal has already opened its services. Customers can both send and receive money to the Ukrainian wallets which are in British pounds, American dollars, euros, and Canadian dollars. Once the money is received, the person can transfer them on the MasterCard or Visa.
