The Earth and Spirit Council of Portland is proud to announce that this year the Natural Way workshop series will be presented at the Multicultural Center at Portland State University. Natural Way is a unique opportunity for people to learn about living sustainably on the earth from representatives of Native American and other indigenous peoples who have managed and maintained their world for more than 50,000 years. Natural Way also provides a venue for preserving oral tradition, by disseminating important information that might otherwise be lost. Each workshop in the series will be recorded and broadcast on public radio and Reservation stations.
The October workshop features William H. Burke, a Chief and Elder of the Walla Walla Tribe of the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla. Chief Burke, a former teacher, is the Northwest representative to the National Indian Council on Aging, and is nationally known for his work on issues related to the Hanford Nuclear Site.
The Multicultural Center is located on the lower level of the Smith Center at P.S.U. The workshop will be held on October 14, from 7:30-9:30 pm A donation of $5-$20 is requested at the door, with proceeds going to support the elders.
