We would like to welcome a new member to Community ConneXion -- the new Full Spectrum Health Center. The two-story center at 3303 SE Division, Portland combines the best of East and West in holistic health. In addition to Deb Santomero, the founder of the center and a chiropractor, the staff includes a naturopathic physician, massage therapists and an acupuncturist. Some of the center's more intriguing offerings include classes in Yoga, Qi Gong, Feng Shui, Couples Massage, Thai Massage and Beginning Drawing, plus Women's Full Moon Circles.
Great attention has been lavished on the décor, and Santomero encourages local artists to show their work at the center. Currently, the photography of Allan Bruce Zee is featured.
A particularly unique feature at the health center is the Kasina Light Therapy Room, which will be installed in February 2000. The Light Therapy Room is actually a self-contained, mirrored, pyramid structure -- the only one of its kind in the world. Inside the 9x11 pyramid are mirrors forming a 24-sided polyhedron, lit by full spectrum light bulbs in a choice of colors.
The Light Therapy room will be particularly beneficial to people who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or who seek color therapy for energetic and emotional healing and for opening one's creative mind.
For more information about the Light Therapy Room, any of the classes and the holistic health services provided at Full Spectrum Health Center, call 503-236-9882.
